The Progress – quite possibly the most hyped 2014 restaurant opening in all of the Bay Area – is the second offering from the husband and wife team of Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski.  Located next door to their critically acclaimed and  impossible to get a reservation at State Bird Provisions, The Progress is sure to draw comparisons to its wildly successful neighbor.   But is that comparison really fair?

On a rare occasion, a meal is so ridiculously extravagant that it is near impossible to reconcile the evening against any previous dining experience.  The 29 course, 3+ hour long tasting menu  Astrid y Gaston is one of those experiences.   From the setting of the restaurant, through the presentation and flavors of each course, to the bound hardcover book presented at the end as a memento of the menu; Astrid y Gaston is truly a world-class restaurant that, at the #2 spot on the top 50 in Latin American might actually be underrated.

Lima is secretly (or maybe not so secretly) becoming a powerhouse on the world food stage.  Three of the top seven restaurants on the Latin America Best 50 are located in the Peruvian capital.  On our stop in Lima, we dined at all three of these restaurants, with our first stop being Central.

サンフランシスコのミッション地区にある美味しいピザとパスタが食べられるレストラン「フラワー&ウォーター」へ行ってきました。 1年位前にも行ったことがあるのですが、その時も美味しかったのでまた来てみました。また、予約が可能な数席以外は早い者順となるので、いつもオープン前から列が出来ていることが多いです。でも今回は、数ヶ月前に予約をしたので、並ばずに入れました。

Steaks by Luis

Steak restaurants (known as parrillas) in Buenos Aires are about as common as Starbucks in Seattle.  They are everywhere.  Steak is Argentina and any trip to this country would be incomplete without copious amounts of cow washed down with bottle upon bottle of Argentinian red wine.  Knowing that multiple meals will be centered around steak, picking out where to dine becomes somewhat of a research project.
